ASM and HighTaiX design and manufacture special machines: production machines with industrial robots, automatic or semi-automatic. Applications include automotive, medical, industrial perfumery, and aerospace.

Do you have a manual operation to automate, or a product that no commercial machine can process? Send us your specifications, your plans or a simple description of your need: an account manager will get back to you and can come on site.

What is a special machine?

A special machine is a machine designed for a single customer, a single product, or a single production line. It does not exist in a manufacturer's catalog: it is designed based on a precise need (rate, part dimensions, environment, operator safety), then manufactured and integrated into your site.

It takes three main forms:

A special machine is justified when:

  Standard machine Special machine
Design Standard model, chosen from a catalog Designed based on your product and specifications
Adaptation Limited settings Dimensions, production rate, materials and environment are taken into account from the initial study.
Integration To be adapted by you Integrated into your line and systems
Deadline Short if the model is in stock Longer timeframe: research, manufacturing, testing
Cost List price Cost estimate for the project

The machines we manufacture

Our projects fall into eight main categories. Each category has its own page, with detailed solutions and a list of completed projects.

Family What we are achieving Detailed page
Assembly stations Screwing, crimping, machine vision, automatic loading and unloading, traceability Automated assembly stations
Assembly lines Turnkey lines with robots and cobots, for plastic, metal, glass or electronic parts Assembly lines
Packaging Filling, capping, labeling, palletizing, ultrasonic sealing, vision inspection Automated packaging
Robotics integration Articulated arms, cobots, Delta and SCARA robots, 2D and 3D vision Robotics integration And Universal Robots
Tools Production and control jigs, ergonomic workstations, robotic grippers Industrial tools
Automated storage Conveyors, picking, order preparation, forklifts Automated storage
Ultrasonic welding Spot or linear welding, high-speed weld cutting, inline integration Ultrasonic welding
Test benches Functional, endurance, calibration and measurement test benches; test benches for gates Automated test benches

We also manufacture machines for screen printing, of metrology, of food packaging and automated parking.

We also intervene in the microelectronics, L'’energy, THE materials, there mechanical and the’urban planning.

How does a special machine project unfold?

  1. We will visit and analyze your needs on-site, based on your specifications or constraints. You can send us your specifications, plans, or a simple description of your needs (PDF, Word, Excel, images, ZIP, STEP).
  2. Feasibility study and cost estimate; prototype or trial if necessary.
  3. Mechanical, electrical and automation design by our design office.
  4. Manufacturing and assembly in our workshop in Gardanne, then delivery to our premises in your presence.
  5. Installation, commissioning, and training of your teams; CE marking and documentation. We prepare the declaration of conformity and risk analysis, and we can involve an accredited body such as Apave or Bureau Veritas if necessary.
  6. After-sales service, troubleshooting and machine upgrades. We provide a complete file so that your site's maintenance team can handle it independently, but remain available if needed.

Timeframe and budget for a special machine

The price and lead time for a custom machine depend on the project, not a catalog. Here are the guidelines we provide to our clients.

Project type Estimated timeframe Indicative budget
Simple semi-automatic assembly station 4 to 6 months A few tens of thousands of euros
Fully automated production line 12 to 18 months From one hundred thousand to over one million euros for the most complex lines

Factors that affect the price and delivery time:

We provide you with a cost estimate in our commercial offers, along with a detailed schedule. Budget and timeframe depend on the complexity of the project: we provide you with a precise schedule along with the quote.

ASM en chiffres

A concrete example: on a manufacturer's packaging line, our vision inspection system checks each bottle on a line that runs until... 2,400 bottles per hour, in 3x8 shifts with weekend operating periods. Production includes more than 40 references in 14 formats, from 35 mL to 500 mL.

Frequently Asked Questions

A special machine is a machine designed specifically for a given product, production rate, and site, unlike a standard production machine. ASM Indus has been designing them since 1997: assembly stations, automated lines, robotic cells, and test benches.

The price depends on the production rate, the number of part numbers, the environment (cleanroom, ATEX, hygiene), and the level of automation. Expect to pay tens of thousands of euros for a semi-automatic workstation; we have already exceeded one million euros for the most complex fully automated lines. We will provide you with a quote in our sales proposals, after reviewing your specifications.

Generally, allow 4 to 6 months for a simple semi-automatic workstation and 12 to 18 months for a fully automated line. This timeframe includes the study, design, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning, and varies depending on component availability. We will provide you with a precise schedule along with the quote.

You can write to us as soon as you express your need: we'll define it together. The more complete your description, the more reliable the quote will be. Ideally:

  • the product: dimensions, material, variants, plans or STEP file;
  • the target pace;
  • the environment: cleanliness, ATEX, temperature, hygiene;
  • the available space and energy on the site;
  • security and traceability constraints;
  • the systems to be connected.

The person placing the machine on the market prepares the CE declaration of conformity and the technical file. For a machine designed by ASM Indus, it is ASM Indus: we prepare the declaration of conformity and the risk analysis, and we can involve an accredited body such as Apave or Bureau Veritas if necessary.

We provide troubleshooting services for our machines. We do not offer maintenance contracts: we provide a complete file so that your site's maintenance team can handle it independently.

A cobot works close to human operators, often without a protective cage when risk analysis allows. An industrial robot is faster and can carry heavier loads, but operates in a protected cell. We integrate both types, from all brands, and choose based on speed, load capacity, and installation requirements.

Our workshops are located in Biot (06) and Gardanne (13), with an office in Lyon (69). We primarily operate in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, and throughout France if needed. A project manager can visit your site.
