Automated jewelry storage line with robotic manipulators
One of Lyon’s leading manufacturers of gold chains worked closely with ASM to automate the storage of its various jewelry models.
Objective: to automate the stocking and dispatch of customer orders
The goal was twofold: to automate the stocking process in vertical rotary storage systems and to automate the stock retrieval process triggered by customer orders. The main challenge of this project stemmed from the large number of SKUs to manage (over 1,000), packaged in plastic bags of varying sizes. To overcome this, ASM leveraged its robotics expertise and specifically designed four robotic manipulators for this client, equipped with suction fingers (using Venturi technology), capable of handling multiple types of parts.
Characteristics of an Automated Storage Line
The line delivered to our client has the following technical characteristics:
- Automated supply of jewelry directly from the manufacturing process
- 4 robotic manipulators specifically designed by ASM for the client's needs (managing multiple packaging)
- Automated weighing, bagging, labeling and storage of items
- Stock release for end customer order integrated into the customer's ERP system
- Integration of SCHNEIDER PLCs
- A line 28m long and 8m high, composed of 4 Electroclass cabinets with a total of 4000 drawers

ASM has designed and installed over 300 production machines. Here are a few examples of projects that might interest you:
