Fully Automated Line: Assembly, Testing and Mounting
Our client, a leading European sanitary equipment manufacturer based in Monaco, contacted ASM to design a fully automated line for mounting, testing and assembling toilet flush valves.
Constraints related to this line
The main challenges of this project were managing the layout of the line (limited area, multiple poles), the production rate (5 seconds for taps made up of 14 parts), the large number of workstations (23) as well as the management of Manufacturing Orders (several models of taps managed by the line) which involved the development of a supervisory tool communicating with our client's ERP and MRP.
Features of our Assembly Line
After 6000 hours of design and development, ASM delivered an assembly line with the following technical specifications:
- Fully automated production line for a tap consisting of 14 parts
- 23 workstations on a 15m long assembly line
- Integration of 3 2D vision systems
- Design of a custom-made robotic double arm
- Integration of 8 UNITRONICS PLCs for managing 23 workstations
- 1 UNITRONICS main PLC with touchscreen for operator management of Manufacturing Orders, with dedicated user interface and integration with the client's ERP system
- Line output to 2 parallel test benches, integrated into the line
- Only the supply of the hoppers, with a 2-hour autonomy, needs to be managed by the operator.
- High production rates for large volumes: a tap assembled and tested every 5 seconds, or 3 million taps per year
- Dedicated monitoring tool developed by ASM with web-accessible dashboards/production management

ASM has designed and installed over 300 production machines. Here are a few examples of projects that might interest you. :
